- Scott Ashworth
- Scott has been a lifelong boater, from sea kayaks to larger vessels. He has a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and through SEA provides opportunities to experience, and to work to protect, Puget Sound.
- Susan Berta
- Susan co-founded and is Program Director of the Orca Network and is Whale Sighting Network Coordinator. She directs the Central Puget Sound Marine Mammal Stranding Network.
- Doug Bishop
- Doug has an Advanced Pilot rating, has been boating since 1976, and teaching boating skills and safety classes since 1996.
- Walt Blackford
- Walt is the manager of PSE's Customer Service Office on South Whidbey Island. He is responsible for community relations efforts including providing Whidbey customers with information about PSE's energy efficiency resources.
- Rick Blank
- Rick has been a Park Ranger for 35 years, at Deception Pass for the last 19. He has a love for people and a passion to teach about the wonders of this beautiful island.
- Nick Bond
- Nick's primary research is on the weather and climate of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. A focus of this work is on how marine ecosystems respond to year to year variations in the weather and to longer-term trends in association with global climate change.
- Chris Burt
- For the past 25 years Chris has worked as crew aboard a variety of vessels ranging from an Alaskan crab boat to a 62' schooner to the 112' square-sailed Lady Washington. Chris serves as expedition leader for SEA's marine-based programs and has a Masters' in Education.
- Larry Campbell
- Larry is the Tribal Historical Preservation Officer for the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community. For the past 20 years the majority of Larry's work has involved the interrelationships between tribal, local, regional, national, and international governmental programs.

- Kathleen is a Beach Watcher and a member of Snohomish County Mycological Society.

- Lori Christian
- Lori works with Whidbey Sun and Wind and is the company expert on incentives, legislation, and utility interconnection. She is tracking the implementation of solar legislation.
- Neal Clark
- Neal had a long career in the computer industry, initially working at the hardware/software boundaries, and finishing with an Internet start-up. He retired to Whidbey Island in 2006, and became a Beach Watcher in 2007. Neal led the hardware design and equipment assembly team for the "Eelgrass Project".
- Ted Clifton
- Ted has had over 45 years of construction experience in virtually every construction trade. He has taught the NAHB Green Building course 17 times since 2007 to over 400 attendees. He is Founder and CEO of Zero-Energy Plans, LLC, which makes proven zero-energy home plans available to mainstream homebuilders.
- Craig Cogger
- Craig has been a Soil Scientist at WSU Puyallup since 1984. His current research is focused on organic nutrient management (composts, manures, biosolids etc.), agricultural and urban soil quality, cover crops, and organic farming systems.
- Nancy Conard
- Nancy Conard is in her fourth term as mayor of the Town of Coupeville. She is chair of the Island County Council of Governments. She represents Coupeville at the LID Summit with Whidbey Island Conservation District and on the Island County Climate Change Coalition.
- Maribeth Crandell
- Maribeth has worked as an environmental educator in city, state and national parks, with Whidbey Watershed Stewards, Island County Recycling and now for the City of Oak Harbor.
- June Davis
- June has worked in the horticulture industry for 20 years. She was the sales manager for Skagit Gardens where she worked with retail nurseries to promote the use of native plants.
- John Dean
- John Dean is a former newspaper editor and government reporter who serves as the District 3 (Camano and North Whidbey Island) representative on the Board of Island County Commissioners.
- David Dicks
- David Dicks was appointed first Executive Director of the Puget Sound Partnership in 2007. Prior to his appointment, he was a partner in Cascadia Law Group PLLC and focused on Puget Sound issues and natural resource projects.
- Frank Dost
- From 1980 -1991, Frank was Extension Toxicologist at OSU. He continues to deal with health and environmental issues associated with use of pesticides in reforestation and right-of-way maintenance.
- Sandy Dubpernell
- Sandy is a principal investigator with the Central Puget Sound Marine Mammal Stranding Network.
- Ann Eissinger
- Through her company, Nakeeta NW Wildlife Services, Ann has been providing biological consulting services throughout Western Washington. Her professional work focuses on the coastal realm, concentrating on species and habitats of the nearshore.
- Richard Feely
- Dr. Feely is a Senior Scientist at the NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory in Seattle. He also holds an affiliate full professor faculty position at the University of Washington School of Oceanography. His major research areas are carbon cycling in the oceans and ocean acidification processes.
- Howard Garrett
- Howard began working with the Center for Whale Research in 1980. In 1996 Garrett wrote Orcas In Our Midst, a booklet depicting the orcas' dependence on salmon. A frequent speaker and writer about orcas, he co-founded Orca Network in November 2001.
- Florian Graner
- Sealife Productions was started in the early 1990s by Florian Graner. He works full-time as a freelance marine cinematographer. His films have been shown in many countries and his images can be seen in various films, books, field guides and dive magazines.
- Pete Granger
- Pete is Program Leader with Washington Sea Grant and has 30 years of experience in the seafood industry.
- Michael Grilliot
- Michael has his BS degree in Environmental Geography, as well as an MS in Geography. He was awarded the Marc Hershman Marine Policy Fellowship through Washington's Sea Grant Program and has been with the Department of Natural Resources since October 2009.
- Jon Gross
- Jon received his diving certification while earning a BS in Marine Biology. While he and a career in science parted ways quickly, his fascination with marine ecology and delight in spending time underwater remained a constant. He has spent the last 15 years exploring the marine waters of the Puget Sound Basin and British Columbia. He has permanent displays at Children's Hospital and the Seattle Aquarium.
- James Guzman
- James' degree is in Environmental Studies. He has visited and worked on projects throughout Whidbey Island and is acutely familiar with the Island's micro-climates, small watersheds, and its particular geologic properties that have created a variety of unique environments throughout the Island.
- Janet Hall
- Janet is the Coordinator of WSU/Island County Waste Wise Program.
- John Hastings
- John comes with an extensive background in construction and building energy efficiency. Through the WSU Extension Office, he provides support and education for a program called "Homeprint" for PSE. Homeprint identifies areas where homeowners can save energy through a home energy audit.
- Russell Hester
- Russell's specialty is educating industry leaders about the building sciences and about "envelope" design for efficient, weather tight houses and buildings.
- Chris Hilton
- Chris has extensive experience managing and negotiating land acquisitions for protection. She has long been passionate about conservation of the Pacific Northwest's habitat and history.
- Steve Hinton
- Steve is the Director of the restoration project in the Skagit Watershed.
- Ron Hirschi
- Ron writes nature books for kids and works with them on many environmental projects as well as projects that combine art and ecology. Ron and the kids have restored and protected wetlands and streams and called attention to needs of the watersheds that feed our oceans. He recently started Project SOAR to eliminate plastics from the sea.
- Jan Holmes
- Jan is co-coordinator of the Beach Watcher intertidal bio survey program and a Beach Watcher volunteer since 1990.
- Sue Howard
- Sue, a Beach Watcher, is chair of the volunteer training committee.
- Ian Jefferds
- Ian is owner of Penn Cove Shellfish Farms.
- Craig Johnson
- Craig and his wife, Joy, are avid birders. He is the prime photographer for their three books on local birds. They both study ornithology and are active in the Audubon Society on Whidbey.
- Graham Johnson
- Graham is a Beach Watcher.
- Jill Johnson
- Jill Johnson is familiar to Sound Waters audiences, with performances of "Little, But OH My!" and "Ferry Tales". Her one woman show, "Playparty: Stories and Songs of Appalachia" will premiere at WICA on March 19th.
- Joy Johnson
- Joy and her husband, Craig, are avid birders. She is the writer for the three books on local birds. They both study ornithology and are active in the Whidbey Audubon Society.
- Kristina Katasaros
- Dr. Katasaros was the Director of the Atlantic Oceanograpic and Meteorological Laboratory, NOAA in Miami, Florida from 1997-2003. Her current research topics include tropical storms, ocean mixing and the relation of the Atlantic Ocean to the African Monsoon.
- Kelly Keilwitz
- Kelly has been in the renewable energy industry since 1999 and is the founder of Whidbey Sun & Wind. He is considered one of the most experienced renewable energy professionals in the State. He is a NABCEP Certified PV Installer. His home is solar heated and powered, and a model of sustainability.
- Sammye Kempbell
- Sammye, a Beach Watcher, is a beach naturalist at Deception Pass State Park.
- Jen Kingfisher
- Jen has worked in the field of environmental education for over five years, teaching science to students of all ages. In 2008 she joined the Pt. Townsend Marine Science Center as their Marine Program Educator, focusing on plastics in the marine environment.
- Lou LaBombard
- Professor Louis LaBombard teaches Anthropology, Sociology and Ethnic Studies. He conducts field schools in Archeology in the summer on the Island. He is also a professional Native American story teller and has made many presentations concerning Native Americans in the US and other countries. He is a Native
American (Iroquois-Seneca/Mohawk).

- Joe is an Environmental Health Specialist with Island County Public Health.
- Russell Link
- Russell has been a biologist with the Department of Fish and Wildlife for 15 years, focusing on management of state priority species (including loons, falcons, and elk) and on land use planning and wildlife education. He is the author of "Landscaping for Wildlife in the Pacific Northwest" and "Living with Wildlife in the Pacific Northwest".

- Cheryl, a land steward with Whidbey Camano Land Trust, has extensive experience in Land Stewardship, site management, public outreach and volunteer coordination.

- Janice Martin
- Janice Martin is a professional wetland ecologist and botanist working with governments and consulting firms, and now the non-profit world. She is also a volunteer Streamkeeper, Beach Watcher and Sound Steward. She developed and leads the Habitat Steward training for Whidbey Watershed Stewards.

- Kathleen is an Environmental Health Specialist with Island County Public Health.
- Susie Richards
- Susie Richards, M.Ed. and a Washington State Certified Teacher has worked in the education field for the past 17 years with a primary focus in service-learning, adventure and environmental education. She currently serves as the Co-Director of Service, Education and Adventure (SEA).
- Gregg Ridder
- Gregg received a PhD in Chemistry from Purdue University in 1977. He worked as a research scientist at Procter & Gamble for 25 years studying mechanisms of toxicity at the cellular level using analytical cytometry. In retirement, he is contributing to the mapping of eelgrass abundance by underwater videography and aerial photography for the Marine Resource Council as a Beach Watcher volunteer.

- Paul Samuelson
- Paul, Mayor of Langley, has lived, worked, and served in the South Whidbey community for 29 years.
- Sarah Schmidt
- Sarah Schmidt earned a Masters in Wildlife Science from University of Arizona studying desert bats. She is active in Whidbey Audubon, Bats Northwest, and is a volunteer researcher for the Washington Bat Grid.

- Hugh Shipman
- Hugh has been a geologist with the Department of Ecology since 1989. His interests include coastal erosion and landslides, beach processes, and the environmental impacts of human activities on Puget Sound's shoreline.
- Neal Sims
- Fishing since 1965, Neal began fly fishing Pacific species after he moved to Whidbey Island in 1993. He has caught every species of Pacific salmon, as well as steelhead and sea run cutthroat, on the fly off Whidbey Island beaches. One day Neal hopes to find a spot where he can catch rock fish from the beach.

- Mayor Slowik is serving his first term as Mayor of Oak Harbor. He has served his community in several capacities: Oak Harbor School Board, Island Thrift Board Member, Past President Oak Harbor Rotary, Past President North Whidbey Lions, and Life member of the Oak Harbor Council, Navy League of the United States.
- Stacy Smith
- Stacy is a Natural Resource Planner with the Whidbey Island Conservation District.
- William Steele
- Bill has been the Seismology Lab Coordinator for the Pacific Northwest Seismograph Network at the UW, Department of Earth and Space Sciences, since 1993. Bill lectures about earthquake and geologic hazards and related policy issues.
- Heather Trim
- With more than 20 years of experience in environmental work, Heather works on reducing toxic pollution in Puget Sound; she also focuses on waterfront, habitat, storm water, land use and zero waste, including most recently, the Seattle Green Bag Campaign.
- Scott Veirs
- Scott is a bioacoustician who has a PhD in oceanography, extensive experience in marine and boat-based education, and a car that burns 100% biodiesel.
- Andy Wappler
- After working as the chief meteorologist for KIRO TV, Andy is now the Manager for Corporate Communications at Washington-based Puget Sound Energy. He is working with a team to develop and communicate the utility's strategies and messages related to renewable energy sources and natural gas.
- Sue Ellen White
- Sue Ellen White is a fourth-generation Pacific Northwesterner and has been sea kayaking since 1983. She considers herself an intermediate-level paddler and most enjoys expedition kayaking inland waters. Sue Ellen works as a freelance journalist and editor and has lived on Whidbey since 1970.
- Amy Windrope
- Amy has worked in ecosystem management and environmental education throughout the West Coast. She has worked at the intersection of science, policy, and education around such topics as marine reserves, wave energy, ecosystem-based management, and coastal land use policy.
- Jamie Wine
- Jamie coordinates Outreach and Education Programs for People of Puget Sound. A marine biologist by training, he has developed and delivered educational programming on Catalina Island, California, in Boston, Massachusetts and as part of his work in Seattle.
- Sarah Woehrman
- Sarah is the WSU Island County Extension Beach Watchers Coordinator. She brings a diverse background to this position, with a BS in English from West Point, an MPA from University of Oklahoma, and an MA in English Literature. Her interests include the environment, the arts, literature and education.
- Frances Wood
- Author and naturalist Frances Wood began drawing and writing about birds decades ago. She is the author of "Brushed by Feathers: A Year of Birdwatching in the West", numerous birding articles for the South Whidbey Record and over 100 segments for public radio's BirdNote. Frances writes and watches birds from her bluff home near Langley.
- Susan Wood
- Susan has taught about estuaries, watersheds, and coastal areas at the Padilla Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve since 1988. Most recently she has been focusing on Climate Change education.
- Scott Yonkman
- Scott is president of Yonkman Construction Inc., a 30 year old company that builds custom homes and remodels in Island and Skagit counties. Scott is a Certified as Built Green Builder, Certified Green Professional, and Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist. He is a member of the Island County Planning Commission.
