- Kelly was raised in Southwest Washington State, attended college at Washington State University and has lived on Whidbey Island since 1991. He became obsessed with renewable energy in 1999, founded Whidbey Sun & Wind in 2000, and has been working full-time in the Renewable Energy industry since 2004. Kelly lives next to the Whidbey Sun & Wind office on Crockett Prairie, in Coupeville, with his wife & son. His home is solar heated and solar powered.
